![]() The Care Quality Commission has published a report showing the NHS needs better awareness of when and how to apply the Mental Capacity Act – deprivation of liberty safeguards (MCA-DOLS) safeguards for patients. The safeguards apply in all hospitals. PCTs continue to receive MCA-DOLS resources to make sure there are effective safeguards, appropriate training and independent 'supervisory body' functions.
Action: NHS chief executives will wish to ensure their boards monitor the Mental Capacity Act and MCA-DOLS
